I, as you, am the descendant of immigrants (granddaughter of immigrants in my case). I am lucky to be an American, but this doesn't mean I can't be critical of whatever is blameworthy in our national behavior. To quote Thomas Jefferson, "The price of democracy is eternal vigilance."
