Weaving

I discovered weaving in October 2006 and was promptly hooked – it is the most complex (and intellectually interesting!) of the fiber arts, something I could delve into for years without even scratching the surface of all its wonderful possibilities.

After spending a year weaving and sewing my wedding dress, I realized that I had also found my life’s passion – creating beautiful, handwoven art pieces, whether they be garments or other forms of artistic expression.  I combine weaving, dyeing, and couture sewing techniques in making my creations, enjoying the exploration as much as the finished product.

Here you will find links to galleries of my work, techniques and how-tos, and a brief history of publications and awards.  I hope you will enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoyed making them!

Handwoven Garments

Garments I've created (or am in the process of creating) from my hand-dyed, handwoven fabrics.

Shawls

Handwoven shawls. I wove a lot of them early on, perhaps because they are simple to make and don't require lots of sewing or design!
