Handwoven Garments

Wedding dress

In 2009-2010, I spent nearly a year weaving and sewing my wedding dress. The dress is woven in fine silk, with a three-strand Celtic braid pattern (symbolizing eternity in Celtic lore), and is embellished with Alencon lace and Akoya pearls. The coat is woven in silk and metallic gold thread, and features the Chinese double-happiness character (used for wedding well-wishes) and the Tibetan eternity knot.

I titled this ensemble "Eternal Love", as a wish for our marriage!

Kodachrome Jacket

Kodachrome was my entry into the 2011 Handwoven Garment Challenge. I decided to make it a blaze of color, and chose the name "Kodachrome" after the legendary brand of film, after listening to the Paul Simon song of the same name.

I'm pleased to say that Kodachrome was one of the winners in the Garment Challenge, and will be featured in the Fashion Show at the Vav conference in Sweden, as well as being published as a project in Handwoven!

Network Drafted Jacket

A jacket I made about a year and a half after I started weaving. The wedding dress it's not, but I like it anyway!
