Wow. I had no idea making a corset was this complicated.

Just got back from Lacis, where I bought piles and piles of boning, cotille (a heavy twill interlining), grommets and a grommet-setter, lacing, twill tape, extra spiral boning and boning tips, and, uh, stuff.  Lots of stuff.  And all this to finish the test muslin, before embarking on the “real thing”.  Egad.

Making a muslin turns out to be only marginally less complex than making a finished product; in order to figure out whether the darned thing fits, you more or less have to add boning, eyelets, etc.  I’m tempted to sideline it for the moment, or else take a gamble and sew the pattern together as written – I’ve already adjusted it for my body measurements, so it’s not as much of a gamble as it might be.  I think if I start with the lining and the cotille, I should be able to adjust it and allow for fitting changes before stitching with the silk/rayon brocade.

I have finished the hot pink tutu and am feeling productive again.
