Botheration!

Woke up this morning, ate a big breakfast, repaired the loom (much swearing), and went out for a ride.  Ride was truncated by the seatpost problems + generally feeling exhausted; that’s what I get for not eating properly after yesterday’s ride.  I only made it out for one very slow hour of riding; hopefully next week will go smoother after I get the new seatpost from Palo Alto Bicycles.  Riding with my saddle nose tilting to the sky is not fun.

After getting back from the bike ride, I tempered another batch of chocolate and dipped the remaining caramels.  I still have about 1 kg of chocolate “slag” (the leftover stuff in the bowl) left and will probably give it to my chocolate-helper friends.  Jon and Julie come by every year and help me pack the chocolates into boxes after the grand extravaganza, in exchange for which they get as much leftover chocolate as they can cart off.  But I couldn’t possibly get my chocolates done, shipped, etc. without them, so I’m perfectly happy to inflict my extra chocolate onto them.  Works great for all parties, and keeps the chocolate off my waistline.  🙂

I am now halfway through the garnet shawl, and was weaving happily away until about half an hour ago, when I noticed I was getting hungry.  Botheration!  What is this “getting hungry” thing?  I was weaving!!  Who has time to eat when there’s so much interesting stuff to do?!?

So, anyway, since I gotta eat and I’m trying to clean out the fridge, I’m stewing a whole chicken with leeks and garlic, and will add dried morel mushrooms, green garlic, and maybe a few dried shiitake to the stew.  Plus a few carrots, maybe some potatoes, and you’re talking a pretty tasty chicken stew.

Nonetheless, I am miffed.  I’m on a creative roll, and I really don’t have time to eat.  It’s just that I get distressingly hungry if I don’t.

Bother!

it’s just I that never have heard the world ‘chocolate’ and ‘slag’ in the same sentence before.
