“A coward is incapable of exhibiting love; it is the prerogative of the brave.”
– Mahatma Gandhi
I read an article about love a few months ago, and meant to write about it then, but I forgot. Then a followup to the article appeared today, and I just had to pass it on.
The original article is “I’m Christian, Unless You’re Gay” on the blog Single Dad Laughing. It talks about hate, rejection, and unconditional vs. conditional love: “I’m Christian, unless you’re gay.” It was a powerful read, and I highly recommend it.
The first followup is some of the responses to the original blog post – positive and negative – and can be found here. There are some other followups here, on this page.
But the one that blew me away is this response. A teenager was asked (in school) to write an essay about “I’m Christian, unless you’re gay”, and his mother started ranting on about the evils of homosexuality. He wrote an incredibly courageous and powerful essay in reply, and the article talks about his essay and her response. It’s well worth reading.
