Ribbon yarn and kid mohair

I’ve just ordered some ribbon yarn from Webs year-end closeout sale, which features some incredible deals.  I’ve never tried weaving with ribbon yarn before, but I figure it should weave up quickly and be quite beautiful.  I’m tempted to buy some closeout rayon yarn so as not to waste the silk, but considering the vast quantity of yarn I now have, I figure I should use that up before purchasing more cheap yarns.  Perhaps I’ll warp it with cotton.

Meanwhile, I am making rapid progress on my lace kid mohair shawl – almost a foot so far. This is all the more impressive since it’s knitted in a fairly complex entrelac pattern, so knits up rather slowly.  But then, I’ve had a LOT of blank time to fill in with knitting.  Rather restful really – it’s been awhile since I’ve had this much time that wasn’t in a hurry.  We will try marbling today, and perhaps I’ll get some photos.  Unfortunately I can’t upload anything right now, lacking anything that would read my digital camera’s card.  If I get the time to write up a description of marbling, I’ll post it to my website.

I hope everyone is having a great holiday week, and that you have a chance to get some rest.  Fortunately my relatives (apparently unlike everyone else’s relatives, from the blogs I read) are not squabbling, so it’s a great week for me.
