By the dawn’s early light

I woke up about 4:30 am this morning and couldn’t sleep, so I went into the kitchen and started a new batch of candied Meyer lemon peel.  Am I obsessive?  Well, perhaps, but I really did want to get that started as soon as possible.  Now I’m working on my article for Complex Weavers Journal February 2010 (showing the many things I’ve been doing with the Celtic braid draft), and once Mike gets up, I’ll launch into chocolate!

On the slate for today:

  • Make chocolate macadamia fudge (didn’t get to it yesterday)
  • Dip dried apricots
  • Cut and dip jasmine caramels
  • Cut and dip coconut fudge, put an almond on top to make coconut almond fudge
  • Dry and dip a second batch of candied bergamot peel
  • Dip candied ginger
  • Make English toffee

This sounds like a lot, but the dipping goes really quickly once you get started.   I expect to finish up in plenty  of time, even allowing for a 2-hour trip to Fleur de Cocoa in the afternoon.  I’m even hoping to sneak in a little weaving!
